Doors of Hope was inspired by volunteering at the local women’s shelter and my passion for putting an end to domestic violence. I designed this exhibition for my capstone to graduate from Central Michigan University’s graphic design program. The show was open for two weeks in the Student Art Gallery on campus. In my eyes, it was a chance for me to share some of the astonishing facts behind domestic violence.
I created 4 posters, an infographic, a book and pledge cards for my exhibition space. With the pledge cards, after a person would sign their name, they could pin it up on the cork wall. It was a way for the viewer to interact with my space on a deeper level than just seeing words and pictures on a wall. By the end of the show, the pledge cards were completely gone and the cork wall was covered in them.
